RFID Laboratory was established in 2009 by Centre for Identification Systems of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the main GS1 Belarus partner. It aims at development and widespread implementation of automatic identification technologies in the republic. That same year in conjunction with several leading Belarusian universities a laboratory was created by the cluster and is focused on conducting researches and developments, student training, professional development.

In 2012 RFID Laboratory in connection with GS1 Belarus became a RFID/EPC Laboratory that currently promotes international standards and recommendations in the sphere of automatic identification technologies in Belarus, conducts researches and development of the automated systems and is actively involved in the standardization work at the national level. The laboratory also includes a number of leading Belarusian universities that carry out researches and training for highly skilled specialists.
