On the UNCTAD E-Commerce Week 2019

On April 1-5, 2019, in Geneva under the auspices of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), the 5th E-Commerce Week is being held — the largest international forum for discussing current issues in the development of e-commerce.
For the first time on the margins of the Week, Belarus jointly with the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) organized a thematic session “Data exchange and a single window in the Eurasian Economic Union using UNECE standards”.
During the opening session of the event the Deputy Permanent Representative of Belarus at the UN Office in Geneva Mr. Dmitri Fomchenko informed the participants about the priorities of the Government of Belarus in building a digital economy and developing e-commerce.
The representative of the Center for Identification Systems at the Academy of Sciences of Belarus Mr. Evgeni Yakushkin informed about the results of the research work of the Center in terms of the reference model Single window. UNECE Regional Advisor Mr. Mario Apostolov presented the results of the regional “Single Window Seminar: Interoperability, Data Exchange and Digital Commerce” held in Minsk on December 10-11, 2018.
The event provided an opportunity to present the priorities of Belarus in the field of digitalization of the economy at the national and regional levels, including the steps being taken to fulfill the task of the President of Belarus to turn Belarus into an IT country. The results of the discussion will be used in the implementation of the “single window” mechanism in Belarus and the EAEU, aimed at facilitating access to relevant trade information of all subjects of foreign economic activity.
