Director of the Center for Identification Systems Victor Dravitsa was elected Vice-Chairman of the Bureau of the UN Centre for Trade Facilitation and Electronic Business (UN/CEFACT)

VdravitsaOn July, 8-th, 2011 during the 17-th session of the UN Center for Trade Facilitation and Electronic Business (UN/CEFACT) in Geneva, the representative of Belarus, director of the Center for Identification Systems and E-business operations Victor Dravitsa, was elected a Vice-Chairman of the Bureau. Participation of the Belarusian expert in the work carried out by the Bureau will allow our country to take active part in design and development of modern systems and standards for business operations that apply information technologies. One of the practical tasks to be solved by the Belarusian UN/CEFACT Vice-Chairman is to focus ID Centre’s activities on the needs of the countries in transition, in particular the Customs Union of Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia.

UN/ CEFACT is a subsidiary intergovernmental body within the Committee on Trade of the UN Economic Commission for Europe, although at present, its activities go far outside the European region.  UN/CEFACT activities involve not only representatives of the member-states of the UNECE, but also experts from Asia-Pacific region, Africa and Latin America. UN/CEFACT activity is directed at assisting states and representatives of their business communities in establishing effective and simple mechanisms for exchange of goods and services. Its main task is to create the most favorable conditions for national and international business operations through simplification and coordination of processes, procedures and flows of digital information.
