Belarus will adopt The National Automated System for Identification of Animals and Products of Animal Origin.

Belarus will adopt The National Automated System for Identification of Animals and Products of Animal Origin.

The system (www.aits.by) allows registering and maintenance of  complete information (electronic passports) on every bovine animal, including information about animal owners, meat-processing enterprises and other parties involved in the process of production and sales of livestock products. The system is also used for veterinary control and for tracing of information about animals and products of animal origin.

The system is designed by the Public Enterprise "Center for Identification Systems" of the National Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Belarus.

Due to the implemented solutions that comply with the national and international requirements the system can provide users (depending on their authority and competence) with the information about place of origin, location of the animal, state of health of the animal at all stages of its life history from birth to production of products of animal origin.

On September the 24th 2012 the trial operation of the system was launched at the facilities of a farm school of the Belarusian State Agricultural Academy (Gorki, Mogilevsky region).

The system implements mobile terminals for capture of data used for identification of animals, registration of events as well as veterinary and sanitary measures in the field (see picture). Collected data is transmitted to the database either in real-time mode or in the form of file transfer at the end of business day or upon user request.

The objective of the first stage of the system development is to organize cattle identification process. The first stage is expected to be completed by end of the year.
